Arts at CIS: Showcasing creativity and talent

A thriving Arts programme at CIS

At the Canadian International School (CIS), the arts are integral to school life. Our vibrant Arts programme encourages students to express themselves, develop creativity, and explore their identity through a wide range of artistic disciplines.

Through both classroom learning and extracurricular opportunities, students gain the confidence, adaptability, and resilience needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

A two-pronged approach to the arts

Curricular arts (classroom learning)

Within our arts curriculum, students are both artists and learners of the arts. Each student has the opportunity to:

  • Create, perform, and present their work in meaningful ways
  • Explore music, dance, drama, and visual arts as part of their academic journey
  • Develop new artistic skills while mastering those acquired in earlier years
  • Use process journals to record, reflect, and deepen their artistic growth

The curricular programme ensures that the arts are not an “add-on” but a vital, integrated part of education.

Co-curricular arts (beyond the classroom)

Our extracurricular activities and performances provide students with a platform to showcase creativity and talent outside regular lessons. Opportunities include:

  • School concerts, drama productions, and dance showcases
  • Visual art exhibitions and creative projects
  • Collaborative performances that bring the CIS community together

These experiences help students build confidence, resilience, and communication skills.

Building creativity, confidence, and identity

Through the arts, CIS students develop much more than artistic skill they learn to express ideas, emotions, and perspectives in ways that shape their identity and connect them to the world. By engaging deeply with the arts, students cultivate creativity, adaptability, and confidence that will support them in every aspect of their academic and personal lives.
