Academic Excellence Scholarships

Process
- Applications for prospective CIS student scholarship are accepted from 06 October 2027 through to 15 November 2026, and are applicable for Semester 2 of Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Deadlines are outlined below.
- Academic assessments and / or interviews could be scheduled for shortlisted applicants.
- All supporting documents must be submitted with the application.
- The scholarship committee will review applications after the 15 November 2026 deadline.
- The scholarship committee makes the final decision on awardees and the scholarship amount.
- All applicants will receive a notification of outcome no later than 11 December 2026..

Scholarship criteria
CIS scholars are role models to all students as well as exemplars of excellence in their field. They combine all that we look for in students in terms of attitude and contribution with the highest standards. We currently offer scholarships for three types of scholar, academic, sport and music, and successful applicants are expected to be exceptional in their respective areas.
Scholarship criteria are a mix of area specific and more general criteria. Whereas each individual merits is assessed on its merits the scholarship committee will focus on the following criteria.

Is it possible to apply for two scholarships as I see myself as a potential candidate in both fields?
Yes this is possible, you will need to fill in two separate applications.
What is the scholarship amount that is awarded to successful applicants?
Up to 50% of tuition fees. Scholarship students will also receive a personalised plan to help support their goals, under the advisement of a mentor.
What expenses are covered under the scholarship?
Up to 50% tuition fees. CIS does not provide room and boarding.
Is the scholarship awarded for one year, and is a new application required each year for students who wish to continue receiving the scholarship?
Scholarships are awarded for a minimum of two years and maybe extended as students continue to meet the scholarship criteria.
Will applicants be required to complete a written or in-person assessment as part of the scholarship selection process?
CIS does not require an external assessment as part of the selection process.
Your Academic Scholarship is listed as being available to students in grades 9-12. Would a student who is currently in grade 8, but will be entering grade 9 in the upcoming school year be considered eligible to apply?
Yes, external applicants may apply in Grade 8 for Grade 9 admissions to CIS, and complete the academic scholarship application process for consideration for a scholarship.
