How to apply

  1. Complete the scholarship application form
  2. Upload all required supporting documents
  3. Applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee
  4. Results of your application will be released by 20 February 2026

Process

  • Applications for prospective CIS student scholarship are accepted from 06 October 2025 through to 31 January 2026, and are applicable for Academic Year 2026 - 2027. Deadlines are outlined below.
  • Academic assessments and / or interviews could be scheduled for shortlisted applicants.
  • All supporting documents must be submitted with the application.
  • The scholarship committee will review applications after the 31 January 2026 deadline.
  • The scholarship committee makes the final decision on awardees and the scholarship amount.
  • All applicants will receive a notification of outcome no later than 20 February 2026.

Scholarship criteria

CIS scholars are role models to all students as well as exemplars of excellence in their field. They combine all that we look for in students in terms of attitude and contribution with the highest standards. We currently offer scholarships for three types of scholar, academic, sport and music, and successful applicants are expected to be exceptional in their respective areas.

Scholarship criteria are a mix of area specific and more general criteria. Whereas each individual merits is assessed on its merits the scholarship committee will focus on the following criteria.

Selection criteria:

  • Academic performance over the past two years in subjects studied
  • Other academic achievements, for example academic competition success, awards etc
  • Contribution to the wider school community in the area of academics. For example supporting academic subject events, supporting other students learning including in other grades, contribution to the wider school
  • Attitude, behaviour and attendance

Document submission list:

  • [Required] Letter of application that shares how you will positively contribute to life at CIS. Things you might like to touch on include: how you demonstrate school values, participate in school and community initiatives, etc;
  • [Required] Two most recent years of academic records (transcripts) and school reports, inclusive of attendance records;
  • [Supplement] Any supplemental evidence. For example academic awards, competition successes, other academic assessments for example MAP testing, CAT 4;
  • [Supplement] Any contribution to the wider school community in the area of academics. For example supporting academic subject events, supporting other students learning including in other grades, contribution to the wider school.

  • Sports performance over the past two years. For example, success in competitions outside of school, representation at local, national and international level etc. Depending on the sport, achievements like fastest times, achievement standards etc will be considered.
  • Involvement in school sports including teams represented and achievements
  • Contribution to the wider school community in the area of sport. For example supporting athletic events, supporting other students athletic development including in other grades, contribution to the wider school
  • Attitude, behaviour and attendance

Selection criteria:

  • Music proficiency in chosen instrument, for example, level/grade reached at internationally recognised standards, e.g Trinity College, Associated Board Royal School of Music, etc.
  • Performances inside and/or outside of school, at local, national or international level
  • Participation in school ensembles and/or solo music events
  • Contribution to the wider school music community. For example, supporting music events, supporting other students' musical development including in other grades, contribution to the wider school
  • Attitude and behaviour commensurate with CIS values and the IB Learner Profile

Document submission list:

  • [Required] Letter of application that demonstrates the student’s music proficiency, solo or ensemble participation, and/or involvement in the larger music community
  • [Required] Two most recent years of academic records (transcripts) and school reports, inclusive of attendance records
  • [Required for SG-based applicants]
    • submit a recorded video music audition (5 mins or less)
    • required to have a live interview with music faculty (short-listed candidates only)
  • [Required for off-island applicants]
    • submit a recorded video audition (5 mins or less)
    • schedule a Google Meet interview with music faculty (short-listed candidates only)
  • [Required] List of performances inside and/or outside of school, at local, national or international level within the past two years
