Student support and well-being

Student support and well-being

The Student Support and Well-being (SWELL) Department at CIS was established to enhance the school’s capacity to understand each learner in order to nurture conditions that help them actualise their potential.

We provide a variety of services to support students in their learning. Our programme we are able to provide a multidisciplinary model which includes services in learning support, counselling, speech language therapy and healthcare. In addition, we partner with an external provider to offer occupational therapy services on campus, ensuring students can access specialised support within the school environment.

Our team uses a multi-tiered system of support that starts with a high-quality mainstream curriculum, differentiation and excellent teaching in Tier 1. Through our referral and Learner Success Team (LST) model, we work with teachers and families to address the needs that cannot be fully met within the mainstream setting. A student may receive Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 services depending on the level of need determined by both in-school and out-of-school assessments. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to support our CIS students.

At CIS, we are able to service mild or mild/moderate learning, social/emotional and behavioural difficulties.
