First day requirements

First day requirements

Here are the things that your child will need to have on their first day of school. Requirements are age based, so please peruse to see what your child will need. If textbooks are needed, they will be provided on a loaner basis by the school.

Our admissions team will be in touch ahead of your first day with all the relevant information.

  • All grades will need to bring their own backpack to school each day.
  • Children in junior kindergarten to grade 6 will need to purchase a book bag*.
  • Students in grades 4-12 will need to bring a lock for their student locker.

*Book bags can be purchased directly from the school library at a cost of $4.

  • Notebooks and pencils are provided by the school for students up to grade 6 at no additional cost.
  • Grades 7 to 12 students are required to purchase their own personal stationery.

Devices are required for a student's first day of school (iPads for grades 3 to 6 and Macbooks for grades 7 -12). You can read more about device requirements for grades 3 to 6 here and for grades 7-12 here.

Secondary students must have the following calculators for maths. These calculators are available at Learning Interactive in Singapore.

  • Grades 7 and 8: a scientific calculator
  • Grades 9 to 12: TI-inspire CX II
(no other model will be allowed)

This page outlines the systems we use at CIS. If you’re new to CIS, you will receive an email with your login credentials for all CIS systems before your child’s first day of school.

Once you have set up your credentials (learn how to here), please login to ManageBac to view your child’s timetable, teachers and class locations.

Your child can bring a packed lunch from home or purchase food from the school canteen.

  • If your child is in primary school (nursery to grade 3), you will need to order your meals online before school starts. If you have not yet got access to our systems, you can visit the Sodexo office on campus to order.
  • Students in grades 4 to 12 will get their student ID cards on their first day of school (if not collected prior).

Learn more about the canteen, how to order/pay on this page.

All students must wear the CIS uniform from the first day of school, unless advised otherwise. The uniform page on our website outlines what items your child will need, while the parent handbook outlines our uniform policy.

Yeap Transport, contracted by CIS, provides door-to-door bus transportation for CIS students. If you still need to arrange bus transportation please contact Yeap Transport directly as soon as possible as routes take at least two weeks to be confirmed. Their contact details can be found on the bus services page.

We recommend that young children are accompanied by parents or caregivers on the morning of their first day of school.

Security is of the utmost importance to all at CIS, and we aim to provide a safe and secure environment for the entire CIS community. For more information, visit this page on our website.
