4. Services: security, uniforms, bus and canteen
4.1 SECURITY ON CAMPUS
Security is of the utmost importance to all at CIS, and we aim to provide a safe and secure environment for the entire CIS community. CIS employs 24-hour security officers at both campuses to secure the entrances and perimeter of the school grounds. Find more information about campus security on My.CIS.
Everyone who enters CIS is required to show photo ID to our security personnel with the exception of CIS students in uniform. Further protocols may be implemented as needed and will be shared via official CIS communications.
4.2 CIS ID CARD REQUIREMENTS
Parents, caregivers and all other family members must ensure they show their CIS ID to the Security Officer when entering campus. CIS ID cards should be housed in the red CIS provided lanyard and worn at all times while on campus.
4.3 SCHOOL UNIFORM
With the exception of school designated non-uniform days, all students are expected to wear the school uniform at all times during school hours and when on school field trips. This includes CIS hats or CIS caps.
Teachers/advisors will inform parents when and if exceptions are made.

4.4 PE UNIFORMS AND HATS
Physical Education (PE) uniforms are worn during PE class. Primary students (grades 1 to 6 only) should wear their PE uniforms to school on PE days. Secondary students change into their PE uniform at school before PE class. These procedures and uniform requirements also apply to students in the CIS foundation programme.

4.5 HOUSE LEAGUE SHIRTS
All students in grades 1 to 6 must purchase a house league shirt. House league shirts are worn to school on house league colour days (primary). House membership will be advised by your child’s divisional office. View our uniform page for pricing and size details.
4.6 HATS
To protect students from the tropical sun, CIS has a “No Hat, Play in the Shade” policy. CIS hats/caps are compulsory, and can be purchased from our uniform supplier, Lim's Uniforms. Please read the policy and familiarise yourself with the requirements.
4.7 DRESS/GROOMING CODE
Students are expected to maintain a neat, clean, and appropriate appearance at all times while wearing the school uniform.
PRIMARY STUDENTS
- Hats The CIS hat or cap is compulsory for Primary students when outdoors. It is recommended, but not compulsory, for Secondary students.
- Footwear Students must wear closed-toe shoes with socks at all times.
- Undershirts Only a plain white T-shirt (no logos, patterns, or printing) may be worn under the official school shirt. The undershirt must not be longer than the school shirt and should not be visible beyond the uniform.
- Uniform Integrity The school uniform must be worn as designed. Nothing may be attached to the uniform, and it should not be altered or modified in any way.
- Jewellery Jewellery is not permitted, with the exception of small, simple ear studs for girls. Nose rings, eyebrow piercings, and other facial piercings are not allowed unless they are worn for religious or cultural reasons.
- Hair Hair should be clean, neat, and well-maintained. Long hair should be tied back when necessary for safety and hygiene. Hair colour should be natural and appropriate for a school environment. Hair accessories should be minimal and simple, and should not be flashy or oversized.
- Hair Accessories Hair accessories should be simple and minimal, avoiding oversized, flashy, or distracting styles.
- Nails Fingernails should be clean and kept at a safe length. Nail polish, artificial nails, and decorative nail designs are not permitted.
- Watches Plain, functional watches are permitted. Smart watches or watches that may cause distraction are not allowed.
- General Appearance Students are expected to maintain good personal hygiene and a tidy appearance throughout the school day.
SECONDARY STUDENTS
- Students who are not wearing the proper school uniform may be asked to leave class to change if spare uniforms are available. If uniform violations persist, a student may be sent home to change or sent to school.
- Student’s dress or grooming should not be a distraction from learning activities.
- Trousers should not drag on the floor or appear baggy, while shorts and skorts must not be altered.
- No undergarments should be visible. Clothing on special dress days should not be cut or designed to fit shorter than school uniform.
- Appropriate fully closed-toe and closed-heel shoes must be worn with socks. Students who have a medical reason to wear other types of footwear need to produce a medical certificate and carry it with them throughout the school day.
- For swimming, all students should wear appropriate and non-revealing swimwear.
4.8 SCHOOL BUS SERVICE
The school bus service is operated independently by ComfortDelGro Bus Pte. Ltd.

If your child will not be taking the bus at the regularly scheduled time, please email both the bus office and your child’s classroom teacher.
Our school buses have the right of way and vehicular traffic is stopped each day at 3.45pm to allow all school buses to leave the campus.
4.9 SCHOOL CANTEEN
Sodexo* is the school caterer for the canteen. Lunch is included in the school fees for all Kindergarten students, while students in grades 1 to 12 can purchase lunch and/or snacks from the canteen, or may bring a packed lunch from home (please see food safety in section 5.3 for important information).
