Connecting CIS Students to Global University Opportunities

CIS recently sent two of our university advising team, Olivia Harvey and Alex Ross, to represent the Canadian School to over 400 universities from across the world at the Bangkok CIS-EARCOS Conference. This is the regional conference for well established international schools to meet and discuss the latest trends in university admission and to share best practices.

CIS-EARCOS is a great opportunity for university advisors to discuss potential students with university admissions teams and vice versa. It puts the Canadian International School on the proverbial 'map' and allows our team to meet representatives from tertiary institutions that make the actual decisions on whether your son or daughter is admitted to their hallowed halls.

In addition CIS university advisors were selected to deliver a work shop to the international participants. The focus of the workshop was on university applications to Ireland which is emerging as a popular destination for international school students.

Irish options have been growing in importance as more and more parents and students pivot away from what have been traditionally referred to as the big 4 (Australia, US, Canada and the UK) to alternatives in other parts of the world, including the EU. Ireland offers a myriad of options, all taught in English and remains considerably cheaper than options in the US.

Decisions to admit or not admit are based on a matter of degrees. One of those degrees may be the personal knowledge that a university has of our esteemed institution. CIS guarantees that personal knowledge by not only inviting universities to the Canadian School to meet the students but also by sending staff out to the big university conferences in locations like Bangkok.
