As part of a 'Documentary Photography' MYP unit that explores the concept “cultural representations express a recurring sentiment through time and space", Grade 10 visual arts students spent a day photographing sites in Little India and Chinatown. The aim was to capture a series of images within the theme 'Capturing Singapore'. Before embarking on the trip, students spent time researching documentary photographers, learning operational functions of a DSLR and brainstorming ideas for their photo shoot.

Across the course of the day, the group also viewed student exhibitions at LaSalle University, and 'Theatre of Reality' by the Taiwanese photographer Chou Ching Hui at Deck Gallery.

Students are now editing their images to create a series of photographs that best represent their interpretation of the theme. The works will be exhibited at the night of M.A.Dness on 7 June.
