Noa Boon’s recent successes at Berklee College of Music in the United States come as no surprise to those who watched her grow and flourish as a musician during her 6 years at CIS. Noa’s passion for music is inspiring. Her hard work and determination to succeed carried her through the IB and on to Berklee this year with the highest scholarship awarded to vocalists.

At CIS, Noa delighted audiences with countless solo and group performances. As a Diploma Programme music student, she matured as a performer, showcasing her talents as an instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Now it’s the audiences in Boston who are enjoying her musical gifts.

In her first term at Berklee, Noa was selected from many applicants to produce and perform her own solo show, an honour rarely given to a first year student.

Noa captivated her audience with a soulful night of R&B and funk, featuring new, original compositions. Backed by a full band consisting of drums, percussion, bass, keys, guitar, background vocals, and a brass section, Noa also performed covers from artists such as Amy Winehouse and Stevie Wonder.

While most students join only one music ensemble in their first year at Berklee, Noa has been selected as lead singer in three different ensembles: the Tower of Power ensemble, the Amy Winehouse ensemble and the World Music ensemble.

As Noa’s educational journey continues, more opportunities present themselves. She recently attended a lecture by Grammy award winners Esperanza Spalding, a legendary jazz bassist, and singer-songwriter Jill Scott. This led to an invitation to attend Esperanza’s songwriting class at Harvard University!

And when does this gifted musician study? Remarkably, she does find time! Last month Noa learnt that she had earned a place on the Dean’s List for her excellent academic performance during the fall 2017 semester.

What’s next for this shining star? She has a busy schedule ahead. Noa will be performing in several recitals to finish off her second semester at Berklee.

We are incredibly proud of all that Noa has accomplished both at CIS and beyond, and we look forward to following her continuing successes.
