As the ancient saying goes, “A teacher is one who transmits knowledge, provides for study and dispels confusion.” As educators who teach Chinese as an international language, we have the responsibility to infuse Chinese culture, history and traditions into our lessons. This will allow foreign students to appreciate Chinese culture, experience the traditional virtues and understand the cultural values while learning Chinese language. This will also allow Chinese students to gain a deeper understanding of the ancient and modern Chinese civilization, to pass on the Chinese culture, and to build racial identity while learning their mother tongue.
In recent years, international schools have emerged in many different parts of the world and the teaching of Chinese as an international language is undergoing enormous changes. Teachers all over the world are searching for the latest educational ideas and teaching methods to meet societal needs. This is leading to rapid development in the teaching of Chinese language. As such, we will be organising “The 6th International School Chinese Language Education Conference and Workshop” to provide Chinese language teachers a platform for academic exchange.
