The Parent and Teacher Association

Welcome to the CIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA). As a parent of a child enrolled in either our Lakeside or Tanjong Katong campus you are automatically a member of the PTA. Being a member of the PTA simply means you are now part of a community that believes that effective parent involvement in our schools enriches the educational experience of our children. There are no fees or dues and we encourage everyone to get involved, either by volunteering or simply attending our activities.

Our Objectives

The PTA aims to enhance a sense of community within the school by:

• Fostering communication and co-operation among the parents, students and teachers.
• Organizing activities and events for parents, students and teachers.
• Contributing to the effectiveness of the school by promoting the involvement of parents.
• Supporting, encouraging and improving the quality of education and well being of the students.

The PTA Executive Committee

The PTA has two Executive Committees, one for Lakeside and one for Tanjong Katong, which coordinate PTA activities at their respective campuses. Each committee member is elected annually at our Annual General Meeting in May. General Meetings

Several times during the year, the PTA holds General Meetings which all parents are invited to attend. General Meetings focus on PTA activities and proposals and includes presentations from the Principals and Head of School on relevant developments within the school.

Events and Activities

The PTA arranges a number of events to bring the school community together and provides parents several opportunities to meet each other in an inviting atmosphere. Some of the events organized by the PTA are:

• Welcome Fair
• Teacher Appreciation
• Book Fairs
• Room Parents

We also provided a supporting role for events organized by the schools by coordinating volunteers for events such as the UN Food Festival and Chinese News Year Spin Day.

Volunteering

For parents that are interested in becoming more active in volunteering within the PTA we have numerous opportunities throughout the year where extra hands are needed. The PTA communicates its upcoming activities and events through the Week at a Glance and it will be through this weekly communication that the PTA will ask for volunteers. Alternatively, you can approach any one of the PTA committee members at any PTA event or email us your interest in helping.
