Communications

In line with our commitment to be as environmentally friendly as possible, the Canadian International School (CIS) has implemented a communications programme that relies largely on online media and email. The programme is designed to keep our school community updated and informed of school events and upcoming key dates, and to celebrate the success of students at CIS.

Personal information and student reports are available to view in a secure online parent portal environment. Modes of school-wide communication include:

E-Bulletin – Week at a Glance (WAG)

Every Friday, parents and guardians receive the e-bulletin “Week at a Glance (WAG)” which contains divisional and school-wide information. All parents and guardians are urged to read the WAG, as this is the main vehicle of communication regarding upcoming events and important information and announcements.

School Magazine – The Husky Herald

The Husky Herald” is the CIS school magazine and is available both in print and online. The Husky Herald is printed quarterly and is a celebration of life at CIS and student achievement. The magazine gives parents a unique opportunity to see what amazing things are going on school-wide.

Parent Advisories and E-Briefs

Operational and important announcements are communicated via Parent Advisories. These announcements are important and include information that parents need to take note of. E-brief announcements are typically reminders of school events or happenings. Parents are requested to pay special attention to all CIS communications.

Social Media

CIS communications have expanded to include the use of Social Media (namely Facebook and Twitter). These channels are less formal modes of communication and have been implemented to celebrate CIS student achievements, parent happenings, and reminders.

Parent Portal

Parents are issued with a User ID and Password to access the parent portal. The parent portal is a secure environment and houses teachers weekly updates, school records such as attendance records and PDF copies of report cards. The parent portal is the central point of contact for all CIS information.

Student and Parent Records

It is essential that parents and/or legal guardians immediately advise the school of any changes to:

  • Email address
  • Residential address
  • Billing address (if different from residential)
  • Contact phone numbers
  • Custody or access issues

Parents are able to perform most of these updates online via the online change of address/contact details form.
