Ontario Primary Academic Programme
Primary students in Grade One and Two, students enjoy a well-balanced program of academics and special activities. The school provides a safe secure environment so that children can develop their potential in all areas. By approaching learning as grounded in the world around them, our students learn through experience and application. Children are encouraged to question, think critically, be creative and celebrate their successes. This holistic approach to a child's development ensures that all aspects of learning are addressed through a safe and nurturing programme. |
An Enriched Curriculum
In our child-centred classrooms, our students are encouraged to question, discover, analyze, and communicate. By learning through real-world examples, children also begin to connect their learning to the world around them. In the Primary Grades, we follow a hands-on approach to learning. Through experimentation, testing of hypotheses, and finding their own answers, our students are active participants in their education. The teachers are committed to catering to individual needs to promote life long learning reach their full potential as life long learners.The children are involved in school wide functions that directly integrate curriculum studies which include UN Week, Science Fair and Arts Festival. The children help to celebrate their diversity by recognizing a variety of cultures and their traditions and celebrations. |
An Individualized Programme
Our programme provides each child with discovery opportunities which match their learning style and needs. Teachers are committed to providing quality programs that allow for individual needs. Our teachers help students develop new interests and talents. Every student experiences success through individualized outcomes which are reachable and realistic. These continued successes develop a child's self-esteem and belief in their own abilities. An ESL (English as a Second Language) program is available for developing language skills to allow for successful integration in the classroom programme. C.I.S. also provides AR (Academic Resource) for individualized academic assistance, as well as Enrichment Programmes for students who require additional academic challenge.
Co-Curricular Activities
The grade one children are involved in a number of activities that provides a po sitive and enriching experience. These include ice-skating twice a year and swimming. Each class participates in the Open Minds program. Our Open Minds programme encourages students to view the world around them with depth and understanding.
All children are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular programmes run at lunch or after school. Activities include house league sports, clubs, visual arts, calligraphy, choir and violin. These activities allow students to express themselves in different ways and experience new success outside of the formal classroom environment. |
