KB Goes for a Dive!
Although, the Scuba Club’s trip to Tioman Island was only two days long, leaving after school on a Friday and returning late Sunday, it proved to be memorable, challenging and full of new experiences both in and out of the water.
The schedule was crammed, with all the divers requiring certifications having to complete a total of 6 dives in a day and a half. I was part of the small group of four taking our Advanced Open Water Certifications, so I had the opportunity to take part in a night dive as well as a deep dive to 30m/100ft. It was an awesome experience in the quiet, deep water world of the ocean.
Another highlight of the dives was that our group had an encounter with three good-sized black tip reef sharks. This was something I had never seen on a dive before, but the adrenalin rush at seeing such unique creatures in their habitat was impressionable and will make me always want to keep searching for new ocean depths to experience. Despite the fact that the majority of us were taking qualifying dives, we managed to have a lot of fun, as our instructors made sure we enjoyed ourselves as well as practiced and enhanced our skills.
