Deepavali Celebrations at KB

Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is the Indian Festival of Lights that is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains. During this festival, people light up their lamps, clean and decorate their houses, and light firecrackers. The lights symbolize happiness, peace, and the triumph of good over evil.

The legend goes that a demon, Narakasura, who tortured and kidnapped villagers in India, was defeated on that day.

During TAP on Thursday, October 23 rd, four different stations were set up in order to celebrate Deepavali and learn more about Indian culture. There was an introductory presentation on the celebration along with some sweets and snacks. Indian arts like henna tattoos and a bhangra dance video were shown, as well as a play depicting the legend of Deepavali.

Happy Deepavali!
