CIS and the 2008 Terry Fox Run For Hope
On Sunday October 5 th, CIS students and their families headed out to East Coast Park to participate in the 2008 Terry Fox Run for Hope. They were there to support the dream that began 26 years ago when a Canadian, Terry Fox, attempted to run across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
Singapore’s Run for Hope is a continuation of Terry’s dream. This annual event is sponsored by The National Cancer Centre (NCC) Singapore. All donations are used to fund cancer research and treatment in Singapore. On behalf of the NCC and CIS, I would like to thank all the participants who made donations to the NCC.
CIS would also like to thank the students who volunteered to help the NCC with registrations on weekends during the month of September. Twenty-one students gave up half a Saturday or Sunday (and in many cases, two or three) to register participants for the NCC at Borders Bookshop on Orchard Road. A special thank-you also goes to Helen-Marie Teo who organized a group of students to help promote the Run for Hope at CIS. All of these students demonstrated a very caring and community service-minded attitude.
