In the Future...

In the future, I see myself wearing an astronaut suit everywhere, everyday. Why? Without it, our air would suffocate me. Without it, greenhouse gases would broil me alive. Without my ‘astrosuit’, I’d have no air purifier or adequate UV protection. Without my fashionable astrosuit, I’d die. Fashion— now a necessity in life!

In the future, I see myself lining up in front of government offices everyday. Why? I’d be queuing for my daily ration of water. The world, by then, would have auctioned the remains of the glaciers in the North and in the South.

What’s more, in the future, I’d be the highest paid person. I’d be a ‘Garbage Sifter’, sifting through garbage, sorting out the biodegradable, recyclable, and completely useless trash we have no need for (educational background in all sciences needed for this occupation).

Do you want to see which is the bigger pile?

I don’t. I don’t want this to be my future.

So I’m doing what I can. I turn off what I don’t need. I don’t smoke. I use public transportation. I don’t shower for more than fifteen minutes.

I don’t make it my life to seek out recycle bins when there are none around— no; but I still do what I can.
