Message from the Principal – Elementary Campus

Welcome to the Canadian International School Elementary campus website. On behalf of the elementary staff I would like to extend a very special welcome to our students and their parents for the 2008 - 2009 school year. On a personal note, I feel fortunate to be working in such a dynamic learning environment with such a warm and caring staff.

We eagerly await the arrival of your children who will be bring with them their hopes and aspirations for a new and exciting school year. As an International Baccalaureate World School our task is to capture the children’s imaginations, extend their abilities and enable their potentials to unfold. This is one of the gifts we would like to see the children take with them from their CIS experience.

In promoting the success of each student we must open our minds and hearts. Each student comes to school excited to learn and our goal is to sustain that excitement. The students bring with them background knowledge and experiences which add to the diversity and richness of our learning environment. Students are encouraged to ask questions and through the synergy of dialogue and collaboration, they begin to feel valued in the learning process.

Our well rounded programme includes Open Minds, ESOL, French, Mandarin, Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Physical Education and extra-curricular activities. In these pursuits students build further on their current knowledge by participating in experiences that broaden their understandings and perspectives.

Parent involvement in their children’s education is a key to their success as lifelong learners. At CIS, parents, teachers, support staff and administration work in partnership to promote the attitudes needed to guide and support the learning process for the children.

The staff at CIS looks forward with a great deal of passion and commitment tot the excitement of the year ahead and the opportunity to further our learning with you, our school community.
