Facts of the New Jurong West St 41 campus
The new campus at Jurong West St 41 is located on 3.3. hectares of land, holds a capacity of 2000 students and 250 Staff. The building is 5-stories high, with ample meeting rooms, conference rooms, offices, fully equipped and fully air-conditioned classrooms and speciality rooms. It is an eco-friendly, all-purpose facility that will house students from Early Childhood to Grade 12.
The campus is well served by public buses from around the island. One can also reach the campus by taking the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train to Chinese Gardens or Lakeside stations and enjoy a 10-minute walk to the campus. Parents who drive will need to take the Jurong exit on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE).
Main Entrance
- The main entrance opens up to a grand foyer with a glassed atrium that reaches up to the fourth floor of the building - allowing the main entrance to radiate with a combination of indoor and natural lighting.
Classrooms
- Homeroom classrooms typically will be 10m by 9 m in dimension. Fully-air-conditioned, with large glass window paneling to allow the entry of natural light into the classroom.
- Classrooms are structured around the concept of clustering or pods.
- Clusters of 6 to 8 grade level classrooms will be gathered around a common meeting area.
- Teachers’ staff rooms will also be located within the specific grade level pod.
- A common area unique to that grade level ensures that CIS to keeps its “small school community feel” by allowing the development and strengthening of a specific grade level culture.
- Located on the top storey of the academic wing is a large roof terrace. Designed as a roof top garden, the terrace will be used as a senior students common area.
Common and Speciality Facilities
Art Rooms
- Located on the third level of the building, 9 art rooms will house various visual art classes and extra curricular activities for students and staff at the school. A typical art room will be 14m by 12 m in dimension.
- A full visual arts facility will add life, color and excitement to our programme offerings. A larger breadth of visual arts activities can now be explored through the use of our Visual Arts section of the school.
Science Rooms
- The Science area will have appropriate gas and water lab-equipped benches for Physics, Chemistry and Biology classes. As well, a Science Prep room will be available.
Amphitheatre
- A 400-seat amphitheatre with an area of 950 sqm will play host to various performances, recitals, divisional assemblies and functions throughout the school year.
- Fully furnished with timbre flooring, reverberation chambers, adaptable staging, lighting and sound systems, and up to 3-storeys of plush velvet circle seating.
- The auditorium is flanked by 3 music rooms and a fully equipped sound room with state-of-the-art sound technology.
Library and Technology
- A 837 sqm, 2-storey library will cater to Elementary students and Middle and High School students.
- It supports all academic needs while catering to interdisciplinary studies, personal development, social, and recreational needs. Fully equipped with books and periodicals, audio-visual materials, computer software and electronic resources.
- eResources will be a critically important feature of the Library. Students will have access to eCollections, eBooks, eMagazines, eDatabases, eArchives.
- To provide a greater access to knowledge for our students, our library will be electronically linked to various National Libraries.
Canteen
- 2 canteens of 748 sqm will take up part of the first and second stories of the main building.
- Complete with ample seating space, a menu of eastern, western and vegetarian cuisines.
- Moving towards the digital age, students and staff will be provided with a CIS Cashcard to be used for all food purchases.
Sports Complex
Gymnasium and Gross Motor Facilities
- 3 fully equipped gymnasiums will be located on the first storey of the main building. The gym will total an area of 1888 sqm and will cater to the Elementary, Middle School and High School sections.
- Alongside the gymnasiums is the Gross Motor Room, carefully fitted to ensure the delivery of a quality gross motor programme for our preschoolers.
Weights Room
- Fully-equipped with state-of-the-art cardio and strength-training equipment, the weights room caters to a broad range of fitness as well as lifestyle needs.
Dance Studio
- Our dance studio provides an open space for creative movement classes, dance and drama. Wooden flooring and mirrored walls make it an excellent practice venue.
Swimming Pools
- A new and welcomed addition at the Jurong campus. The Sports complex boasts two large pools :
- A 10 m by 7m kids pool for our younger students for Swimming lessons and after school extra curricular activities and,
- A 25m by 15 m, 8 lane, Olympic-sized swimming pool will be used for the training of our CIS Swim Teams as well, host various competitive swim meets between CIS and other international schools
Elementary Playing Areas
- A key facility to ensure ample running space for our young ones: the Open Play Field on Level 1 and the Play Deck on the third storey of the building.
- In addition, the 3214 sqm Play Deck on the third storey is fitted with 3 tennis courts
Open Play Fields, A Grandstand and Shower and Change facilities
- Situated alongside the Swimming pools and the Elementary Open Play field, two Open School Fields of 60m by 25 m and 70m by 27m respectively are part of the Sports Complex.
- A sheltered grandstand oversees both the field and swimming pools.
- Luxurious change rooms, shower and restroom facilities, and lockers for students and staff patronizing the Sports complex are located below the grandstand
- Ample parking spaces are also available next to the two school fields. This is to allow parents dropping off their kids for Extra curricular activities, direct and closer access to the Sports Complex facilities rather than accessing it via the Main Entrance.
