"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait for a single moment before starting to improve the world." - Anne Frank

Staff at CIS embody the CIS community outreach beliefs. As well as creating learning opportunities for our own children, they frequently participate in a variety of charities in the region. House building during school vacations in Cambodia and volunteering and raising money and supplies for programs such as First Hand and the PIO program are examples of charities that CIS staff contribute to and participate in.

After many years of donating to, supporting and visiting the PIO School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, a group of dedicated teachers decided to map out a long term commitment between CIS and the PIO School. The CIS PIO support program is about helping teachers in Cambodia do what our CIS teachers do every day - educate children.

Through regular monthly donations, as well as help with planning and evaluation, CIS teachers are able to help provide teachers at the PIO School with everyday necessities incorporating everything from teaching resources to personal health care. While most of us take these things for granted, the ability to meet these basic needs provides both continuity and teacher quality, and ultimately helps to provide a positive learning environment.
