The school shall not be liable for any injury to students, any loss or damage to students’ personal property, or any unforeseen circumstances that may result from students remaining in school after school hours or students’ presence on non-school days, without permission from the school Principal or member of the school staff and are not under effective supervision. Application fees

A fee of S$107.00 is payable to ‘Canadian International School Pte Ltd’ when the application is submitted to enrol in the school. This fee which is inclusive of the Goods and Services Tax of 7% is non-refundable.

Advance deposit / advance tuition fee

An advance deposit of S$1000.00 (per student) is payable to ‘Canadian International School Pte Ltd’ as part of the fees upon submission of application to enroll in the school. The advance deposit of S$1000.00 will be part of the deposit or tuition fees, should the student attend CIS. The advance deposit is only refundable, if after student evaluation, CIS determines that they are not able to accept the student. The advance deposit is Non-Refundable if the student application is withdrawn prior to commencement of school, or if the student does not attend CIS of their own choice.

Tuition fee

All tuition fees must be paid by the stipulated date on the invoice before the commencement date of school. Tuition fees are invoiced before the start of each semester and are non-refundable once the semester has commenced.

The school reserves the right to suspend or withdraw students, and to withhold the release of school reports, transcripts, recommendation letters and other documents, should the tuition fees be in arrears.

PRO-RATING OF TUITION FEES – RETURNING STUDENTS

Pro-rating of tuition fees will be allowed ONLY when a written notice stating this request is submitted three (3) months before the date of commencement of the next academic semester. If a shorter notice is served, pro-rating of tuition fees will not be allowed. In any case, the school reserves the right to deny any request for
pro-rating of tuition fees. This is due to the availability of vacancies at the grade levels concerned.

PRO-RATING OF TUITION FEES – NEW STUDENTS

New students commencing classes midway through the semester may have their tuition fees pro-rated by month.

Deposit

A deposit will be applied to all new students upon confirmation of acceptance. This deposit must be paid within 14 days from the date on the invoice. Failure to do so will result in the student being removed from the CIS register. This deposit varies according to the grade level of the student (oldest sibling in the family). If a situation arises for withdrawal after the full deposit payment has been made, the school will withhold 50% of the applicable deposit. This policy applies to each sibling of the family to the maximum family deposit being forfeited. An additional deposit top-up will be necessary when students graduate to the next tuition fee level. The deposit will be waived for students who have siblings currently studying at Canadian International School ( Singapore), however, the required notice of withdrawal and subsequent penalty for non-compliance, will apply to each sibling within a family.

The deposit will be refunded in full if a written notice for withdrawal is submitted to Admissions:

A. no later than 2 March should the student leave between 1 April and the last day of the second semester of any School Year (both dates inclusive) or is not returning in the new school year;
B. not less than one (1) month before the last day of regular school attendance should the student leave at any other time of the year other than as specified in point (A) above.

Failure to comply with these conditions will result in a 50% forfeiture of the deposit. Please refer to school calendars and newsletters for notices on deadlines on submissions of withdrawal notices in order to have a full deposit refund.

The required notice of withdrawal and subsequent penalty for non-compliance, applies to each sibling in a family. Should a sibling within a family leave CIS without providing the required notice of withdrawal, and the subsequent siblings(s) wish to continue at CIS, the deposit will be required to be topped-up to the required level, based on the oldest child’s grade level, as indicated above.

The deposit may be applied against unpaid tuition fees, damage to property caused by the student and other unpaid school accounts. A Student Exit Form must be completed and submitted to the Accounts Department on the last day of attendance before the collection of the deposit. The form is available from the Main Offices at each CIS campus.

In the letter of withdrawal, please state the last day of attendance and the type of documents required (transcripts, letter of certification, letter of recommendation or other reports). Such documents will only be released upon request when all outstanding fees have been paid.

Building and Development Fund

The Building and Development Fund is dedicated to the building of the new CIS Jurong West Campus, and the maintenance, improvements and renovations of CIS’s current 4 campuses. The Building and Development Fund is invoiced before the start of each semester and is non-refundable once the semester has commenced. It must be paid by the stipulated date on the invoice, and it is not subject to pro-rating.

Pre-School Programmes

Early Childhood Education and Kindergarten children must be completely toilet trained. They must be able to independently look after their own toileting. In August Early Childhood and Kindergarten children begin classes with a “Staggered Entry” procedure. Half of the children in a class attend school on the first day. The second half of the class attends on the second day, and all of the children in the class attend on the third day. This process enables children to have their important first experience at school in a quieter setting with fewer classmates.

Inter-Campus Transfer

All requests for inter-campus transfers for the 2009/10 school year have to be submitted in writing to the Admissions Office at admissions@cis.edu.sg by 2 February 2009.

Please note that students moving from the ESOL programme (Tanjong Katong campus) to mainstream programmes (Toh Tuck, Bukit Tinggi or Kampong Bahru campuses) after one year of CIS ESOL prgramme attendance (plus summer school), need to demonstrate the readiness to be successful (with support) in a mainstream programme before moving to that programme.

All inter-campus requests are subject to the CIS admissions critieria and the availability of places. Parents will be notified of the outcome of their requests by 31 March of each school year.

Additional Expenses

For some courses or subjects there maybe some supplementary expenses, in addition to the tuition fees, these expenses are for materials, equipment or supplies which are necessary due to the unique requirements of the course programmes.

These expenses could include the purchase of calculators, math sets, thumb drives, locks, rental of a musical instruments or other materials required for successful participation in the course. Please check with the Admissions department for any specific requirements for your child’s grade level and subject areas.

Notes:
